What is what3words?
‘what3words’ is the simplest way to talk about location. It was created to identify a code for every spot in the world, providing an address that doesn’t just rely on street systems.
Every 3 metre square in the world has a unique address made of 3 random words. These 3 words can be very simple way to communicate precise locations – for example, the starting point of a walk in nature as part of York Environment Festival!
How do I use what3words?
If you see a 3-word code on any of our event pages, this is referring to the precise location of this event. You can find this location on a map by using the what3words website or app.
