Dr Clare Lesley Hughes

Dr Clare Lesley Hughes is an Environmental Philosophy scholar with particular interests in philosophical animism, ecofeminism, new materialism and environmental ethics. She is also a Wortcunner (Old English for someone who knows about plants) and the founder of Herbal Hegemone, a space for holistic plant knowledge. Her first PhD, in Biology, was awarded by the University of York and she is currently undertaking a second PhD in Humanities, Religion, and Philosophy at York St John University. Her pedagogic approach is rhizomatic and creative and she is passionate about enabling diverse forms of knowledge and learning.
